Kundalini Research

Gopi Krishna and the Kundalini Research Project

Indian writer and awakened master, Gopi Krishna, writes in his bestseller book 'Living with Kundalini' about his own painstaking Kundalini awakening. Gopi Krishna believes that the human brain is still in an organic state of evolution toward higher levels of consciousness. The driving force of that evolution, he claims, is the Kundalini energy.

The word Kundalini means "coiled up," a Sanskrit term intended to designate a force, resting at the base of the spine, which is normally latent or dormant but which, with certain exercises and disciplines, could be activated.

According to the Hindus, life energy or prana is concentrated in the sex-energy. Normally the sex energy is used for procreative purposes, but nature has also designed it for evolutionary purposes.

According to Gopi Krishna: “The human reproductive system functions in two ways, both as the evolutionary and the reproductive mechanism. As the evolutionary mechanism, it sends a fine stream of a very potent nerve-energy into the brain and another stream into the sexual region, the cause of reproduction. By the arousal of Kundalini we mean the reversal of the reproductive system and its functioning more as an evolutionary than as a reproductive mechanism.”

The Kundalini Research Project
Gopi Krishna suggested that science should take up the all important task of studying the effects of Kundalini Awakening on the brain, the nervous system and on personality. The following are some of his most important hypotheses of the effects of Kundalini:

     BIOLOGICAL METAMORPHOSIS OF THE BRAIN

§         Accelerated activities in the brain.

§         A reversal of the reproductive system.

§         The brain is in an organic state of evolution toward the next plateau in human evolution.

§         Every major organ begins to function at new levels of activity.

§         Cells are charged with more potent bio-energy.

§         Metabolism is greatly amplified or enhanced.

§         Biochemistry of the organism is significantly altered.

§         Accelerated activity of the entire nervous system.

§         Transformation of the genes.

§         Development of the heart-mind-body connection.

§         Changes in the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

PSYCHOLOGICAL CHANGES

§         Emergence of a new, more refined personality.

§         Powerful new modes of cognition and perception.

§         Greater mental abilities as natural byproducts of extended consciousness.

§         Cultivation of genius.

§         Noble traits of character are prerequisites to higher states of consciousness.

§         Development of intuition and psychic abilities.
